What Can RutsCameras Offer you?
RutsCameras is a website where you can sell your photography equipment, buy used and new cameras and video cameras. You can sell your digital camera equipment at a fixed price or auction it off. You can also use a reverse auction or start the clock on the auction only when the first bid is made. There are numerous options when listing your new and used film cameras, point & shoot or any video equipment. Just like those other auctions sites you can customize a personal store front. That is completely FREE as well! If you are a large seller with many different pieces of photography equipment, use the Bulklister to make it easy on you. It even accepts Turbolister files!

Do you hate a certain payment gateway? If so, we have 10 different built in direct payment options! Also you can trade equipment, or setup a local transaction and accept cash. You do not have to use one of the payment gateways, you can arrange your own payment!

The camera equipment many users are looking for or often list for sale is a Canon, Nikon, Sony, Panasonic, Pentax, Konica, Minolta, Leica, Hasselbad, Fuji, Mamiya, Bronica, Rollei, Tamron, Sigma, Samsung, Kodak or Contax just to name a few. We encourage you to list anything photography or video related. If you are trying to sell Professional or just basic equipment RutsCameras is the place to do it.

If you are looking for something specific to buy, I suggest you use the "Wanted Ads" to list whatever it is. Then check back soon after and someone will likely have listed that equipment for sale or maybe even have contacted you directly to facilitate to transaction for that special DSLR or lens you have been searching for.

eBay's latest move, some of the auction site's devotees say, is straight out of the Ministry of Truth's playbook.

The company made an announcement on Tuesday announcement about lowering the listing fees for items--even though, in many cases, final value fees will be raised. The company's discussion forums simmered with outrage over the executive decision, and frustration over the lack of other options for auction-style e-commerce.

"What a joke," commented one person on the eBay Seller Central forum, asking for advice about transferring the items from an eBay "store" to another auction site. Another suggested putting together an April Fool's Day protest

Brian from Epic Edits took some time to dig around RutsCameras and blogged about it.

Here are some of the key bullets he put in his blog:
  • IT’S FREE! At least for now. I know, “free” usually sounds too good to be true, but this guy seems legit. No seller or buyer fees.
  • NO JUNK! The problem with eBay is that you have to wade through tons of crap in order to find what you’re looking for. No more searching for a camera model only to find 800 listings on a screwdriver of the same model and 3 camera listings buried in there.
  • SWAP GEAR! I noticed on a few of the listings that swap offers were accepted. I would assume that this means you can swap gear if you have something the seller is looking for too. Pretty cool option.
  • JEFF LISTENS! He actually wants feedback and suggestions when it comes to shaping the site. This is way cool because you’re more likely to “have it your way”. The site even has a forum for feedback and general discussion.
Do yourself a favor and check out Brian's site as it is certainly one of the better ones I visit on a regular basis since I came across it. Tons of info on photography and quite a few "how-to" tips which I have certainly benefited from. Don't trust me....see for yourself here. That link shows how popular his site was in 2008 and it has grow significantly since then. Also on that page is a list of his most popular blogs which are all great reads!

Have you ever tried to sell a camera lens? What about your old SLR? Did you start looking around for a local camera shop or an online camera store? When you found it did they offer you 30-40% of what they had the same exact camera selling for on the shelf next to you?

Well that is exactly what happened to me when I walked into a couple local camera stores and I could not possibly give in and let them make a killing off my barely used Nikon lenses. I recently bought the Nikon D60 and it came with the Nikkor 18-55mm VR and the Nikkor 55-200mm VR lenses. I wanted to upgrade to a great walking lens, the 18-200mm VR lens for an upcoming vacation.

So then I went online to see what options I had. I found the exact same results from major online retailers like B&H and Adorama. Then I moved on to Craigslist and eBay. eBay was going to take 8% from me. Don’t they have enough money that they shouldn’t have to take a chunk from my $150? Craigslist was my best option but then I would have to do a lot more legwork to make the sale; communicate with the buyer, arrange for some sort of payment and I certainly would have no protection from the buyer. Would I meet up with the buyer in a dark gas station parking lot to make a sale that the cop across the street thinks is a drug deal? If the guy tried to screw me would I have any recourse?

So stop getting ripped off when you try to sell your photography equipment and while you’re at it grab some new fisheye lens for your Nikon D300 or buy that new Coolpix compact camera for that special person who has been begging for one since last Christmas (like my father in-law).

Anyway, I think you get the point of why I started this camera auction site. I wanted to provide a forum that was extremely convenient. So I started an auction type marketplace that is cheap, in fact FREE! It has many of the same features as the other auction sites; in fact it offers many more like 10 different payment gateways to use for the transaction. Do you want to customize your personal store to sell your digital camera, video camcorder or maybe an old 35mm film camera? Well do it at RutsCameras! You can even sell your personal photographs taken by your Canon DSLR or your Panasonic Lumix point and shoot camera.

The more users on here the more we can all buy, sell and trade our cameras without handing some large corporation a chunk of money just for listing your equipment for sale. If you like the site please tell your friends and make sure you mention it is completely FREE! How can you beat that?

Let me know what you think or how I can improve your camera shopping experience via the contact us page or at Feedback@RutsCameras.com.

Thanks

Hi,

How do you like the new site? I am very excited about the site and how it came out. It is significantly improved from the previous site. There are numerous added features that will help your user experience.

Please let me know what you think. If you have any features or new categories or any concerns please use the contact us page to provide your feedback. This is very important so we can continue to improve the site.

Thanks
Jeff
This site is completely FREE! Build your own store and upload as many products as you want using the bulk loader(accepts "Turbolister" files) and all for no cost to you!

Please help us spread the word!

Tell some friends....Why give eBay some of your profit when you can sell your equipment here for free and without any risk. The price of Craigslist for the convenience of eBay!

As you have probably noticed we have decided to completely deploy a new website. Thanks to those of you who made suggestions and took the time to provide feedback. We listened and this new site is what has come of it. There will have many more options for payment, a bulk lister, an option for your own personal store and numerous other features you requested. This was a difficult decision as we had to ask all of our members to re-register and re-list the products they had on the site. We tried to avoid that but it was not feasible with the way the previous site was coded. We are basically starting over but the new site will be much improved and significantly easier to use.

I am very excited about the changes and I believe you will be to. The functionality is working now so you can go ahead and start using it. The skin of the site is being worked on and should be completed by October 9th. It will look better than it does now! Once the look and feel of the site is complete we will start our advertising again and continue to work on the SEO. The user base and traffic to the site will be growing as it was before. Also, when our product base increases we will be feeding it to other sites like Google shopping so many people will see what you have for sale.

Thanks for your patience while we improve the site and please let us know what you think. If you have suggestions or requests for new features please do not hesitate to email us.

Did I mention the site is going to stay FREE! RutsCameras has the feature set of eBay but the price of Craigslist. List a few cameras and see what happens, it is certainly better than handing eBay 8% of your sale.

Spread the word, the more users the better the site will be. Don't forget to mention that the site is FREE!

Thank you for visiting RutsCameras.com!
